Help and frequently asked questions

Short answers about verification, identifiers and what the Registry means.

Do I need an account to verify a record?

No. Looking up a GTRN or matching a fingerprint is public and free.

What is a GTRN?

The identifier of a Registry record, for example GTRN-2026-0123456789ABCDEF0123 (illustrative). One issued document has one GTRN; a genuinely reissued document receives a new one.

Does a match mean the translation is certified?

No. A match means a registered record exists, or that a file’s fingerprint equals the record’s. It is not a certification, a legal opinion or proof of translator qualification.

Why is my record not found?

Check the GTRN for typing errors. A record may also be restricted, or its online verification period may have ended. Not found never proves that a document is invalid.

How long does a record stay verifiable?

At most 730 days per term, renewable in the final three months. See Trust and security.

What does signing in prove?

Only that you control an email address. It does not verify your identity or professional status.
